Construction nears completion at Yangon skills training centre
The latest update from the Salesian Sisters in Myanmar shows positive developments in a Yangon training centre aimed at improving education and career outcomes for girls.
A new vocational training centre for girls in Myanmar’s largest city is edging closer to completion, according to the latest report from the Salesian Sisters.
The Entrepreneurship Skills Training Centre for Girls, located in Yangon, is nearing the final stages of its construction, with new photos showing the exciting development.

‘We thank God, and thanks to you for the continuation of this construction,’ says Sister Agatha Phawsu of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco.
‘We hope that in October we can start our interior decoration. We thank you for your prayers, support and understanding.’
The skills training centre, which is supported by Catholic Mission, will aim to address several education and livelihood issues facing girls in Yangon and wider Myanmar, including higher dropout rates and lower labour force participation.
When complete, the centre will begin to enrol 30 girls per year into two-year vocational training courses in food and home management. It is expected this will equip them with relevant skills for jobs available locally.
